This is a picture of my grandparents outside their home, 60 Northfield Road in Okehampton. Sitting is John Walmesley and Bertha Walmesley the little gril is my Aunt Freda and standing behind her is my Dad Leonard Walmesley.
I am made to believe the Citizens of Okehampton were asked if they could help in assisting with the accommodation for soldiers who were being trained on Dartmoor to fight in the first World War.
I think the picture was taken in 1914-15 that would account for the soldiers in the picture. After the death of my grandfather my grandmother remained living at 60 Northfield Road until she died in 1961.
